Track Sections
PackTrak is broken down into a number of modular blocks or track sections. Each track section has embedded electronics, position sensors, armature coils and is 0.5 meters in length. By connecting a series of these track sections in straight or curved configurations, a PackTrak system is formed.
On top of the track sections are a series of carriages or movers. Each mover has embedded rare earth magnets and a bearing system, and travels along a continuous guide rail. A mover functions as a servo-axis or servomotor on the track.
The embedded electronics and armature coils in the track sections energize the movers and create motion. Current to each coil is controlled independently, which allows each mover to be separately controlled. Every half meter section has a single, proprietary design servo-drive, that has the ability to “drive” multiple movers on the track.
A magnet mounted on the mover actuates an element in the sensor array mounted on the motor to provide absolute position feedback. This data is then fed to the serve drive to close the loop.
All PackTrak track sections have a splashdown rating of IP65. In addition, due to the unique design of each section, the surface contains no crevices or undrained cavities that could create sanitation problems.
Two Configurations
PackTrak sections are available in two configurations, standard force sections and high force (F1.5) sections.
Standard sections will be suitable for the majority of packaging applications where rigid accelerations and high throughput are not required. The standard accelerations for these sections is up to 4g. Typical applications that are suitable for standard sections include flow wrappers, HFFS pouchers, collators, cartoners, case packers and baggers.
F1.5, high force sections are suitable for packaging applications that require an acceleration in the range of 6g. A sample application would be a high pick-rate on a product transfer or various applications within the converting industry that are dependent on high rate accelerations
